Mike Sutton, PE

Mike, a native of North Carolina, attended North Carolina State University receiving two degrees in mechanical engineering. Mike has been in the field of accident investigation and analysis since 1987, providing forensic consulting for thousands of investigations. Mike joined Impact Forensics as a partner in 2024.

The primary focus of his professional and academic experience has been mechanical engineering, accident reconstruction, and failure analysis in the field of accident/incident investigation and analysis. He has investigated complex incidents involving motor vehicles, trains and railways, marine vessels, industrial and construction accidents, products, and shooting incident reconstruction.

Mike is a licensed professional engineer and has worked in over 40 states and the Caribbean; providing trial testimony in numerous state and federal courts.
